Amazingly, Sony's prices seem higher than Apple's but in my eyes they offer more: Blu-ray disc drives, and a more widely understood Operating System.
's however, appeal to many. Not only for their still astounding looks, but OS X is superior in many ways to it's MicroSoft counterpart. Students, assuming they can afford it, will almost without fail choose an MBP, especially if they are on an Audio or Video related course, where Mac OS' really start to shine.
But from brief encounters with Macs I think Apple wins, they have options for different display types and are slightly cheaper. The processors, although dual core in most cases, pack a punch and the amazing ability for OS X to run smoothly on such little power amazes me to this day.
So if your looking for a laptop with some custom features, go Apple MacBook Pro, for one its cheaper, and also the re-sell value would be very much higher than a Sony laptop, purley because it has an Apple stuck on the lid. The OS is smoother too, especially for a laptop.
But its not for me, since the Mac Mini was until recently the same spec as the MBP, and a lot cheaper, I'll wait until they update the Mac Mini range, to see if they will even out once more.
